The Rise of Green Jobs and Other Predictions for 2024

Looking ahead to 2024 and beyond, these are my predictions for how the new era of work will emerge. 

Concentrated demand 

Companies are currently focused on The Rise hiring in the following three key areas. In other words, the booming hiring we were seeing post-pandemic is becoming a thing of the past, and hiring based on in-demand skills is our “new normal.” 

JOBS THAT HELP PEOPLE 

The focus on well-being continues to grow: in Brazil, employers in the Healthcare and Life Sciences sector are the most optimistic about hiring in early 2024. In addition, new roles are emerging in the medical field, and the demand for medical data scientists has increased compared to the previous year in several countries. 

JOBS THAT MEET CONSUMERS’ NEEDS (AND POCKETS) 

In challenging economic times, the recognition of the value of experiences and self-care, as well as caring for the people we love, becomes seo & ppc strategies for companies with multiple locations even more evident, with a shift towards affordable alternatives. Demand for hospitality will persist, with a special emphasis on services that offer support in both the physical and virtual worlds. 

JOBS THAT TRANSFORM COMPANIES

Skills remain essential

We expect a much greater focus on talent mobility, with companies moving people into new roles within the organization and betting on future potential versus past performance.

Women drive the future 

When the pandemic hit, millions of women left the workforce — an exodus that many feared would take decades to recover from. Yet in just three years, and across many countries, employment levels for women have returned to where they were before. 

Among women ages 25 to 54, labor force participation rates have reached historic highs. As a mother of three daughters, I am thrilled that this next generation has started new careers, fought for better pay and benefits, and embraced remote opportunities. 

Now, let’s ensure they are not left behind as the green and technological transformations accelerate: women need to be represented in the jobs that will increase in 2024 and beyond. 

Green collar is the new blue collar 

With the implementation of generative AI, the green transition will be the next big revolution in the job market. From finance to manufacturing, jobs will be transformed. Our own data shows that while many people are optimistic about their role in this green future, many are not.  

As employers, it is essential that we continue to support our employees during periods of significant change, shaping the future, encouraging the acquisition of new skills and ensuring that sustainable employment opportunities are attractive to all generations. 

The emergence of cooperation (instead of corporation) 

As the balance of power is leveling between workers and employers, we are seeing a shift towards a more equitable partnership rather than unilateral control by either party. 

From the traditional “corporate” structure, where employers held predominately the power, we are witnessing the emergence of a “cooperation” dynamic, in which employees wield influence and bring valuable skills. Companies now recognize the importance.
